An incredible story from Portugal where a wealthy but lonely man decided to pick the beneficiaries of his estate, from a Lisbon phone book!!
The gentleman in question, Luis Carlos de Noronha Cabral de Camara, did not want the state to receive his money. Bereft of friends or offspring, he decided to pick 70 lucky people from the phone book. Most of the beneficiaries believed it was a prank and with 69 other beneficiaries were not expecting much. However the donor enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle and with multiple properties, the amount inherited would surely have been gratefully received.
Residents of Lisbon must be ruing their decisions to become ex-directory!!
